SASP Components
The Semi-Automated Sample Preparation (SASP™) assists operators in the preparation process by controlling the weighing and dispensing operations. SASP automatically compensates for impurities as well as temperature and density variations so that exact concentrations of polymer solutions can be easily and precisely prepared.

Syringe PumpThe system is comprised of a balance, a syringe pump, computer and Viscotek's ARV™ software. ARV prompts the operator through the weighing steps, ensuring that the appropriate amount of sample is provided and the balance delivers a stable reading. It then calculates the exact amount of solvent to deliver considering the weight, impurities, temperature expansion of the solvent, and solvent density. All information is stored in data files for easy documentation.

Additional features of the SASP system include:

  • Weight/volume and weight/weight preparation
  • Automatic correction for sample impurities
  • Automatic correction for solvent expansion
  • Automatic calculation of solvent density
Automating the sample preparation process through SASP removes variabilities and yields better precision in the actual measurement of solution viscosity.
